Hello Marc

AltGr and Backslash:

To me, that's kind of odd, because I run a configuration that - though
different - should reproduce the problem:

I run NT to NT (and NT to Unix) using a Swiss German keyboard. The backslash
is produced in a similar way: AltGr-< (right Alt key plus the key right of
the left Shift key) and I have no problems.

I assume you're using the native win-viewer and not the Java viewer (Sun
Java VM <1.1.x> has megabugs in 'foreign' keyboard handling).

First time - no connection:

To me, this sounds like a DNS problem. Try to specify the IP-Adress instead
of the host name (13.13.13.13:0 instead of zombie:0). If this works, you
have isolated the problem. If somebody has a solution for that, I would be
happy to know (we have the same problem here, with certain clients, not
related to VNC).

Hi!

I am using vnc to remote control a NT server from a Windows 95
workstation. Both systems are running the German versions of the OS's
and their keyboards are operating with German layout.

On a German keyboard, the backslash can be obtained by pressing AltGr
and the key right to the zero (that has an on a German keyboard).
This keystroke doesn't seem to get through to the controlled system. I
have to use Alt-92 to get a backslash. Is that a known bug?

One other thing: When I start vncviewer for the first time, nothing
seems to happen. After a few minutes of time, I get the error message
"host not found". When I start a second vncviewer immediately after
the first one, that second connects gets through.

Any hints will be appreciated.

Greetings
Marc
